I enjoy composing and arranging music and I often describe the process of writing a song like having a baby. The song starts bouncing around inside of me and eventually it's going to come out whether I like it or not. Most of my compositions just kind of happen and I've learned it's best to sit down and write them down otherwise they just echo in my head over and over, driving me toward the brink of insanity from the repetition.
While I was on one of the senior trips with Johansen (I went 13 times while I was on staff there), I "birthed" this dumb little song. It's intentionally country-fied and ignorant...if I ever recorded it, there would necessarily be a steel guitar part and a big key change going into the last chorus. I used to sing it to my students at Johansen and we all got a big laugh, especially Kathleen. I would really enjoy hearing her sing these words to me again and the laughter that would inevitably follow the final note. I do miss the fond relationships I had with those Johansen students!
Don't Get Your Panties In A Big Fat Wad
Life can sure be crazy,
Life can be a mess.
The in's and out's without a doubt,
Can fill your life with stress.
Don't let your courage fail you,
Don't give your cares a nod.
Don't get your panties
In a big fat wad
CHORUS
Don't get your panties in a big fat wad,
Just leave your troubles in the hands of God.
Don’t be concerned about the path you trod,
Don’t get your panties in a big fat wad.

Claire loves to sing portions of this to me when I am upset with her.
You are the wedge between my cheeks.
I think you need tee shirts printed for the Panty Wad world tour.
